Abstract:
The European Spallation Source, in collaboration with STFC and ELI, is developing the next generation of user office software.
This system will streamline key processes such as proposal submission, review, experiment scheduling and sample safety, addressing
the core needs of research infrastructure user offices.
Building on lessons learned from existing user office software, the new platform prioritizes dynamic content, configurable proposal
workflows, API-first design, and mobile compatibility. A key guiding principle is transparency and adaptability, ensuring that the software
can be deployed across different facilities with minimal additional development effort.
In this presentation, we will highlight key design decisions, technology choices, and the challenges encountered in achieving these goals.
We will also outline the roadmap for future development and share our vision for a seamless user journey through a research facility.
